Dirge for Ammad
Over four hundred years ago an insane inventor by the name Vrahi Tescii was experimenting with creating life. As he was paranoid of others trying to steal his work he decided to create a creature that would be able to protect him and his work. The focus of his work was on creating a living machine in the image of a warforged. After many failures he decided to use a formerly living creature as a base. In his final experiment he combined the remains of a gargoyle with a mechanical body composed of gears and pistons. But something diring the experiment went wrong, and he was killed.
The legends say that Vrahi’s soul was absorbed into his creation, giving it life. This new life was a bizarre mechanical gargoyle. But it was not just alive, it was able to create offspring. As these creatures grew in number they were watching over the city. To this day these creatures protect the city from needless destruction, thier very existance seems to be tied to the existance of the city. Over the years citizens of Ammad named creatures Watchers, due to their curious nature.
Watchers tend to keep away from other intelligent beings, sticking to their own kind.
